 Student of Sapporo Agricultural College in its second year, second President of Hokkaido Imperial University, educator
 Minami entered Sapporo Agricultural College in its second year in 1877. After graduation, he studied veterinary medicine and agriculture at Komaba Agricultural College in Tokyo. He returned to Sapporo Agricultural College as an associate professor in 1883 and mainly taught agriculture.
 In 1919, Minami became dean of the Agricultural Department, and was selected as the second President of Hokkaido Imperial University in 1930. He offered himself to teach students and promote university education, and contributed to the development of agriculture and technical improvement at the beginning of this new era in Hokkaido.
 The Minami collection mainly consists of literature on agriculture and agricultural policy, and also includes books on areas such as zootechnical science and horticulture.
