This is a good opportunity for you to use the useful database for your chem study and research.

CAS SciFindern is an essential tool for chemists.
It enables you to search not only papers and patents but also chemicals reaction information.

      • A professional instructor shows you how to use the databese to search for papers and other information such as substance.

    【North Library】Restart of Group Study Rooms Booking Service on September 14

    North Library restarts Group Study Rooms booking service on September 14, 2022.

    Conditions of Use
    ・Only available for learning purposes. They cannot be used for purposes other than study, such as circle activities or job-hunting activities.
    ・Please be sure to operate the ventilation fan in the room while using it.
    ・Please wear a mask in the room and keep your voice down when talking.
    ・To prevent infectious diseases, please use the room with a maximum of 6 people.

    How to Use
    When you want to use a group study room, you need to make a booking online in advance.
    Please go to the link below and make a booking.
    *Bookable or cancellable schedule is from the next day to one week ahead via the web form. If you want to make a booking or cancellation on the day, please visit the circulation desk of the North Library.

    【北図書館】2022年9月14日(水)よりグループ学習室の利用を再開します

    2022年9月14日(水)より、次のとおり北図書館のグループ学習室の利用を再開します。

    <主な利用条件>
    ・学習目的での利用であること。サークル活動などには利用できません。
    ・利用中は室内の換気扇を必ずオンにしてください。
    ・室内ではマスクを着用し、会話は声を抑えて行ってください。
    ・感染症対策のため利用人数は6名までとさせていただきます。

    Group Study Rooms Booking Service of North Library (Only for members of HU)

    The method of booking facilities will change starting with the slots available on Monday, July 1.
    Please see the announcement for details.
    For use between 6/24(Mon.) and 6/30(Sun.), only same-day booking is available at the counter.

    ・Group Study Rooms are spaces for study by multiple people, such as for independent seminars and report meetings.They cannot be used for purposes other than study, such as circle activities or job-hunting activities.If you use the room for purposes other than study, you will be asked to leave the room even if you are in the middle of using it.
    ・Available for 3 or more people, not available for 2 or less people.

    [How to Book]
    Please make sure that you confirm the “How to use Group Study Rooms” and follow the steps below to apply.

    “How to use Group Study Rooms (North Library)”(JPG)

    1. Log in to your ELMS account. Click “Google” and select “E-mail” so that you can automatically log in to your Google account.
    * Faculties are required to log in with your SSO-ID.

    2. Fill the booking form or cancellation form below.

    3. Please be sure to check the result of your reservation or cancellation as you will receive it by e-mail of ELMS.

    [Notes]
    When you book the Group Study Room, please observe the following:

    • You are a student or faculty of Hokkaido University and have your own ELMS/SSO ID.
    * For those who do not have your own ELMS/SSO ID but are eager to use the Group Study Room, please visit the counter. If the room is vacant and available on the day, we offer you an immediate booking. Please note that immediate booking is available only for the day you visit.

    • Bookable or cancellable schedule is from the next day to one week ahead. If you want to make a booking or cancellation on the day, please visit the circulation desk of the North Library.

    • Booking is only available once per group. You cannot have more than one booking. New booking will be available from the day you use the room.

    • Group Study Rooms can be booked for up to four hours. Bookable schedule is shown as blank on the calendar and up to a week in advance.

    • If you want to change the schedule, please cancel your first booking on the cancellation form and then make a new one.

    • Check a confirmation mail and come to the circulation desk of the North Library on time. Be sure to bring your student/ faculty ID card.

    • You will receive the key once there are at least 3 people in your group.

    • Please note that your booking will be cancelled if you are more than 30 minutes late from the booking time.

    * The booking form is closed for about 5 minutes every midnight due to automatic maintenance.
    ** You cannot make a booking or cancel during the maintenance period.

    [ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED] Partial Resume of Library Services for Non-HU Members (From Sep. 7)

    The Central Library and North Library partially resume the library services for non-HU members with advance booking.
    The details are as follows:

    Persons Permitted to Use the Library
    (A) Researchers who belong to other institutions and wish to use library materials for academic purposes
    (B) Persons who want to use Northern Studies Collection or Rare Books

    Available Library Services
    (A) For researchers who belong to other institutions
    - Use/Copy library materials
    - Borrow/Return library materials (if you have already had your own library card and complete renewing, or make a new one)
    * Some materials are in-library use only.
    (B) For persons who want to use Northern Studies Collection or Rare Books
    - Use/Copy/Take a photo of materials
    * If the materials are damaged, you can take a photo of them instead of copying.

    Available Date
    (A) For researchers who belong to other institutions
    - Weekdays from 9:00 AM to CLOSING TIME
    - You are required to complete registration during 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the booking day.
    - To check the closing time of Central and North Library, please take a look at Library Calendar here.
    (B) For persons who want to use Northern Studies Collection or Rare Books
    - Weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:50 PM (Materials can be offered by 4:40 PM)

    If You Want to Use the Library Materials
    - We ask you to make an advance booking via booking form (Booking forms are available on September 7 from [Central & North Library] Library Booking Service for Non-HU Members).
    - You are required to make a booking THREE WEEKDAYS (except for weekends and national holidays) BEFORE VISIT (e.g. If you want to visit the library on Monday, September 12, you are required to make a booking at least by Wednesday, September 7). We send you a confirmation mail once you complete booking.
    * If you received the confirmation mail and did not receive any other correspondences from us, you would use the library on the booking day.

    1) Driver's license, certification of driving history, My Number Card, Basic Resident Registration Card (Juki Card), health insurance card (with your own address), passport (with your own address), residence card, or disability certificate,
    2) Hokkaido University Library card (if you have already had one)
