Academic Writing Skills Seminar for Graduate Students & Young Researchers (November 28th)

This seminar provide the information on basic skills and knowledge for writing English journal article as well as the information on the various services and schemes related to English publication provide by Hokudai.

The workshops are open to all students and faculty members of Hokkaido University and especially useful for graduate students and junior faculty members in their first forays into academic writing. Senior faculty members who seek the effective instruction method for academic writing in English and ambitious BA students are also welcome.

Poster AHSSThis seminar covers fundamental academic writing skills which can be applied to any field. You will learn about timeline and how to manage your schedule up to journal publication, how to choose appropriate journal, and how to promote your article through social media which is recent trends today. The lecturer from one of the largest journals publishers will tell you the most up-to-date know-how regarding journal paper publication. 2016 SAGE Award winner will tell you her experience from manuscript preparation and submission process leading to publication. University Library will offer information regarding fast-growing open access publication and how to submit to open access journals. Please make sure to stay till the call for applications for 2017 SAGE Award is announced.

Rosalia da Garcia, Managing Director, SAGE Publications Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd

Garcia As the Managing Director, SAGE Publications Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd, Rosalia is responsible for the strategic direction to the overall SAGE Asia Pacific sales and marketing initiatives, as well as the development of sales and marketing goals and objectives for SAGE’s online products. Her role also involves engaging in high level discussions with Librarian Directors, exploring opportunities to collaborate and promote Open Access. Rosalia also sits on the board of directors of SAGE Asia-Pacific. She is passionate about publishing and which she sees as a means of educating the future leaders and researchers of the world.
Rosalia has previously worked for McGraw Hill, Pearson Education, Wiley and Elsevier and has experience in various aspects of publishing; from customer service and acquiring journals, books and journals/library sales to marketing and foreign rights management.
